Are you looking for a fun and unique memory making unique experience for a group outing? Well, look no further. Rooster Cogburn Ostrich Ranch is a family owned working ranch that offers visitors an up-close and interactive experience with ostriches, emu, English Fallow deer, Miniature Sicilian Donkeys, and Rainbow Lorikeet Parrots.
There is something for everyone. Just imagine the thrill you will feel when approaching the fence to feed an 8 foot tall living dinosaur, or how about the sheer joy when the deer eat gently right out of their hand. Don’t forget the odd looking emu, a close cousin to the ostrich. Miniature Sicilian Donkeys love to be fed and petted – a favorite for all ages! The Rainbow Lorikeet Forest; this 5,000 sq. ft. aviary paradise houses 70 colorful lorikeet parrots, granite waterfall, koi fish, trees, and saguaro rib cactus. These birds fly to you and rest on your head, hands, and the fences to drink the nectar right out of a cup which you hold. What a great way to start a new and exciting science unit!
The admission for the feeding area is $5 per person for everyone 6 and over. This does include ostrich, emu, and deer food as well as nectar for the Lorikeets. For kids 5 and under special pricing including the feed is $3.50 per child for pre-booked school group trips. There is also a gift shop with various souvenirs but no drinks available so please bring your own.
The Monster Truck Tours are available during the week with advance reservations. Great for Birthdays, Church groups, school groups, tour groups, or just fun-lovin’ folks! This is a very informative and educational tour as well as action packed and entertaining. $100 minimum for weekday reservations.
We are located between Tucson and Phoenix at beautiful and historic Picacho Peak. Just take I-10 to Exit #219 and then take the southeast frontage road 1 mile directly into the ranch. There are signs.
We do have picnic facilities available but no water or drinks. The Picacho Peak State Park is also located at this same exit and they do have full facilities in addition to beautiful scenery and trails. Contact the park for details and special school pricing at 520-466-3183. These two sights make a great field trip outing to be remembered!
